I am a Chartered Psychologist specialising in Psychotherapy in practice for 20 years. I combine psychological research around personality formation with counselling schools of thought in my work. My experience allows me to firstly create reflective function, in other words your understanding of how you meet the world. I see this as even more crucially important in these times. We’ve never had as much information about mental health and yet there is more confusion, and the UK has recently ranked second from bottom in a worldwide well-being poll. This disconnect motivates me to try equip my clients to have more informed choice.
I can help by assessing how you function in the world, what you want to change and the resistances to that. How a person functions will have origins in lived experience; formative family, bereavement, trauma, and relationships if not least. I work with both biology and lived experience to equip a person with their own understanding of how they function.
With this understanding, changing repetitive and unfulfilling patterns is possible. As is understanding intense emotions, disordered thinking and baffling behaviour. Change also takes courage as does putting faith in a professional person. I take the responsibility very seriously to meet someone at this hopeful and fragile juncture when they reach for help.
